Hector Hugh Munro Mrs. Packletide’s Tiger Summary

Mrs. Packletide wanted to shoot a tiger to outdo Loona Bimberton, who had recently flown in an airplane. She offered a thousand rupees to shoot a tiger, and the villagers helped by luring an old tiger.

During the hunt, the tiger died of heart failure from the rifle shot, but the villagers pretended she shot it. Mrs. Packletide gained fame and a tiger-skin rug.

At a ball, she dressed as Diana, but refused a primeval dance party. Louisa Mebbin hinted at the truth, but Mrs. Packletide bought her silence with a cottage. Louisa’s cottage, “Les Fauves,” is admired by all, and Mrs. Packletide no longer hunts big game due to high costs.
