Rakesh plants a cherry seed in his grandfather’s garden and forgets about it. The seed grows into a twig with leaves, and Rakesh shows it to his grandfather.Rakesh starts taking care of the plant, observing its growth every morning.

The cherry tree grows faster during the monsoon season, making Rakesh excited. Rakesh goes home to his parents for the summer and helps them with farming. When Rakesh returns to his grandfather, the cherry tree has grown to his chest. Rakesh becomes more attached to the tree and waters it daily.

Rakesh considers an insect on the tree as its first friend and protects it from a caterpillar. The tree survives the weight of snow during winter, and Rakesh turns nine. The cherry tree grows taller and starts producing pink flowers.

Birds and bees are attracted to the tree, and Rakesh turns ten. The tree produces its first fruits, but they are sour. Rakesh’s grandfather assures him that the cherries will be tastier the following year. Rakesh admires the tree as a manifestation of God and his own creation.
